I made a video logo to use after any videos I might produce for the site, it was just a fun little project to do on the side but I think it turned out pretty well. The video was created in After Effects and took about four hours to create. I’m a big fan of 2.5D so most of the After Effects animations I do tend to be in that style. The Metropolei logo is a portion of the Cincinnati skyline and was originally created at the actual size seen at the top of the website, I decided to leave it as pixel art even in the HD version and I think it turned out pretty well. The rainbow behind the logo represents the range of daily experiences one has in an urban lifestyle and the diversity of the city itself while the black skyline in the front conveys the cold facade the city displays to newcomers that hides its true colors. Let me know what you think in the comments.
I’ve grown quite fond of Cincinnati in recent years (especially after moving across the river to Kentucky) and so have a few others, specifically my good friend Brian who recently started a blog called Secret Stairways. Go check it out, it chronicles his adventures through the city as he dives head first into the Cincinnati culture, every entry so far has had me glued to the screen until I finished reading.
