Logan and I walked through my neighborhood of Covington, Kentucky last night taking some long exposure photographs for my basic photography class. A few of them I found particularly interesting, so I’m sharing them with you here.
My day to day life is buzzing with activity and the process of taking night photography is a tranquil escape. In a cold and darkened street my tattered tripod barely stands in the snowy wind, the shutter is pressed and with ever so much care I must release my finger from the button so as to avoid shaking the camera. My camera’s eye stares indifferently and unblinkingly at the barely visible subject for 10 to 20 seconds that feel like hours to me and then shuts its eye again to the world, leaving behind a vividly lit scene that was blanketed in darkness when I looked with my own eyes.
