When I was a kid, cartoons had conditioned me to think that there was little else I wanted more than a robot best friend. Blinky was not the sort of robot friend I had in mind, at least my fantasy robot friend didn’t include the part where he’s the homicidal cousin of R2-D2. The trailer for this movie uses incredibly effective sound to come off as a modern day child’s play. Blinky stars Max Records as the lead role, the kid from Where The Wild Things Are. The thing that has me most excited is that the movie is directed by Ruairi Robinson who also directed two creepy short films, Fifty Percent Grey and The Silent City. Both films were disturbing and understated, leaving much up to the viewer’s imagination. After you’ve watched those, go watch the trailer (flash video) for Blinky.
